Jaime is the debut solo album by Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard, released on September 20, 2019, on ATO Records. The album was largely recorded at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, with Howard serving as a primary creative force alongside producer and engineer Shawn Everett, who is known for his experimental and textural approach to mixing and recording. The production features a wide range of sonic experimentation, blending funk, psychedelic soul, electronic elements, hip-hop influences, and Prince-inspired arrangements, with Howard playing many of the instruments herself. The album was named after Howard's sister Jaime, who died of cancer when Brittany was a teenager, and this deeply personal context informed the intimate and emotionally raw nature of the recordings. Keyboardist and programmer Robert Glasper and drummer Nate Smith were among the notable musicians who contributed to the sessions, helping shape the album's genre-defying sound.
