Flick of the Switch

First released

Flick of the Switch was recorded at the Bahama Islands Recording Studios in Nassau, Bahamas in 1983, marking AC/DC's first album following the death of original vocalist Bon Scott and the departure of drummer Phil Rudd. Producer Cliff Palmer oversaw the sessions, which were engineered by Maxime Barbier, and the band worked to establish continuity with new vocalist Brian Johnson and drummer Simon Wright, who had debuted on Back in Black. The album was notable for its rawer, more stripped-down production approach compared to Back in Black, with the band prioritizing live recording techniques and minimalist arrangements that emphasized their blues-rock foundation. Flick of the Switch was released in August 1983 and represented AC/DC's attempt to prove their staying power in the post-Bon Scott era while maintaining the commercial success established by Back in Black.
