Powerage — AC/DC

AC/DC

Powerage

First released

Powerage was recorded in 1978 at the Albert Productions studio in Sydney, Australia, under the production of Robert John "Mutt" Lange, who also produced AC/DC's previous album Let There Be Rock. The album was engineered by Tony Platt, who would become known for his work on subsequent AC/DC releases. Lange's production approach emphasized the band's raw hard rock sound while maintaining clarity in the mix, a signature of his work during this era. The recording took place during a period of transition for the band, as it was one of the final albums to feature original vocalist Bon Scott before his death in February 1980. Powerage marked a continuation of AC/DC's established bluesy, guitar-driven style with Angus Young's lead work remaining central to the album's sonic identity.
