Talkie Walkie

First released

Talkie Walkie, the second studio album by French duo Air, was recorded primarily at Studio Ferber in Paris during 2003 and 2004. The album was produced by Air themselves alongside Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel, with mixing and additional production work handled by engineer Nigel Godrich, known for his work with Radiohead. The production featured a blend of analog and digital recording techniques, incorporating live instrumentation alongside electronic elements, continuing the band's signature approach from their debut La Femme d'Argent but with increased emphasis on song structures and pop sensibilities. The album marked a shift toward more accessible, radio-friendly compositions compared to their previous work, while maintaining their sophisticated production aesthetic and use of vintage synthesizers. Talkie Walkie was released in January 2004 and became one of Air's most commercially successful albums, cementing their status in the downtempo and electronic music scenes of the early 2000s.
