First released

Bad Company's self-titled debut album was recorded in 1973 at Island Studios in London under the production of the band members themselves along with producer Andy Johns. The album was engineered by Chris Kimsey, a renowned engineer who had worked with the Rolling Stones, bringing professional expertise to capture the band's raw blues-rock sound. The recording sessions took place during a period when the newly formed supergroup—comprising members from Free, Mott the Hoople, and King Crimson—was establishing its signature heavy, blues-influenced rock style. The production emphasized live, organic instrumentation and powerful vocal performances from Paul Rodgers, resulting in the commercial breakthrough hit "Can't Get Enough." The album's straightforward recording approach and energetic performances reflected the band's desire to deliver authentic hard rock that would define their commercial success throughout the 1970s.
