First released

# Radio City by Big Star Radio City, Big Star's second album, was recorded in 1974 at Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee under the production of Jim Dickinson, known for his work with other Memphis artists. The album was engineered primarily by John Fry, Ardent's chief engineer, who utilized the studio's advanced 16-track recording capabilities, which were considered state-of-the-art for the time. Dickinson's production approach emphasized the band's power pop sensibilities while incorporating lush orchestral arrangements and layered harmonies that distinguished the record from their debut. The recording took place during a period of creative maturity for the band, with members contributing substantially to songwriting and arrangements. Though initially receiving limited commercial success upon its 1974 release, Radio City would later be recognized as a landmark power pop album that significantly influenced alternative and indie rock music.
