Everybody Digs Bill Evans — Bill Evans Trio

Bill Evans Trio

Everybody Digs Bill Evans

First released

"Everybody Digs Bill Evans" was recorded in December 1959 at Columbia Records' 30th Street Studio in New York City, one of the most prestigious recording facilities of the era. The album was produced by Irving Towbin and engineered by Fred Plaut, a highly respected Columbia engineer known for his work with jazz artists. The recording featured Bill Evans on piano with bassist Scott LaFaro and drummer Paul Motian, capturing the trio during a particularly creative period that would define the modern jazz piano trio format. The sessions were recorded using Columbia's state-of-the-art microphone and analog tape technology, with Plaut's engineering contributing to the warm, detailed sound characteristic of Columbia's jazz recordings from this period. Released in 1961, the album became one of Evans' most celebrated works and helped establish the technical and artistic standards for jazz piano trio recording.
