Parklife — Blur

Blur

Parklife

First released

Parklife, Blur's third studio album, was recorded primarily at Miles Copeland's Chateau de Marouatte in France and at other London studios during 1993-1994. The album was produced by Stephen Street, who had worked with the band on their previous album Modern Life Is Rubbish, alongside contributions from producer Food Records founder Andy Ross. The recording sessions captured the band at a creative peak, with Street employing relatively straightforward production techniques that emphasized the band's songwriting and Damon Albarn's distinctive vocals. The album's sound reflected the emerging Britpop movement, utilizing live instrumentation combined with 1960s-influenced arrangements that drew inspiration from British pop and rock heritage. Released in April 1994, Parklife became a commercial and critical success, helping to establish Blur as one of the defining acts of mid-1990s British guitar music.
