Columbia — PC 33235

Blood on the Tracks, released in February 1975, was recorded primarily at A&M Studios in Los Angeles between September and November 1974, with additional sessions at Columbia Records' Studio A in New York in December 1974. The album was produced by Dylan himself along with engineer Phil Ramone, who played a crucial role in shaping the album's intimate acoustic sound. Dylan made the unusual decision to re-record several tracks in New York with different arrangements, replacing some of the Los Angeles versions on the final release, demonstrating his dissatisfaction with the initial sessions. The recording featured a sparse, folk-oriented approach with minimal overdubbing, highlighting Dylan's vocals and guitar work prominently, which marked a departure from the electric rock sound of his previous album Planet Waves. The album was created during a period of personal upheaval in Dylan's life, though the extent to which autobiographical elements influenced specific songs remains subject to interpretation.
