Untrue

First released

Burial's debut album "Untrue" was recorded primarily in his home studio in South London between 2004 and 2006, utilizing a combination of digital audio workstations and analog equipment. The album was produced entirely by Will Bevan (Burial) working independently, with minimal external collaboration or professional studio involvement. Bevan employed distinctive production techniques including heavy use of pitch-shifted vocal samples, crackle and vinyl noise, and layered atmospheric processing to create the album's characteristic ghostly sound. The technical approach reflected the emerging UK garage and dubstep aesthetic of the mid-2000s, with production choices influenced by artists like Arpanet and the UK funky sound. Released on Hyperdub in November 2007, "Untrue" became a landmark electronic album that defined the sound of grime and dubstep's artistic evolution during that period.
