Deram — SML 1107

Camel's 1974 album "Mirage" was recorded at Island Studios in London during sessions that showcased the band's progressive rock maturity following their debut. The album was produced by the band themselves in collaboration with engineer Peter Henderson, who would become a frequent collaborator with progressive rock acts. The recording utilized analog tape technology and featured the distinctive keyboardwork of Peter Bardens and the intricate guitar playing of Peter Frampton, establishing the sonic template that would define the band's mid-1970s period. "Mirage" marked a significant step in the band's artistic development, moving toward the more elaborate compositional structures that would culminate in their 1976 masterpiece "The Snow Goose." The album's production reflected the studio techniques common to progressive rock of the era, emphasizing layered instrumentation and careful attention to the balance between acoustic and electric sounds.
