Risqué

First released

Risqué, the third studio album by Chic, was recorded in 1979 at the Record Plant in New York City under the production leadership of Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. The album was engineered by Bob Power and marked a continuation of the duo's signature sound, which blended funk, disco, and R&B with sophisticated production techniques including prominent use of drum machines and synthesizers. Recorded during the peak of the disco era, Risqué showcased Chic's refined approach to rhythm arrangement and string orchestration, with the album reaching platinum status and producing the hit single "Good Times." The recording process reflected the band's meticulous attention to detail in layering tracks and achieving their polished, radio-friendly sonic aesthetic that defined late-1970s dance music.
