Now He Sings, Now He Sobs — Chick Corea

Chick Corea

Now He Sings, Now He Sobs

First released

Now He Sings, Now He Sobs was recorded in October 1966 at A&R Studios in New York City with producer Roy Bbuchanan. The trio consisted of Chick Corea on piano, Miroslav Vitous on bass, and Roy Haynes on drums, creating an intimate chamber jazz sound through live studio recording. The album was engineered with minimal overdubbing, capturing the spontaneous interplay between the three musicians in real time. This recording marked Corea's first album as a leader and showcased his emerging lyrical piano style influenced by Bill Evans, establishing him as a significant voice in modern jazz during the post-bop era. The album was released on Blue Note Records in 1968 and has since become a canonical work in jazz piano trio history.
