Christopher Cross

First released

Christopher Cross's self-titled debut album was recorded at multiple studios in Los Angeles during 1978-1979, including One on One Recording Studios and others. The album was produced by Christopher Cross along with Randolph "Randy" Badazz and engineer Lenny Waronker, with significant contributions from David Foster and Burt Bacharach. The recording employed sophisticated pop and soft rock production techniques characteristic of the late 1970s, featuring session musicians and layered orchestral arrangements. The album's pristine, polished sound was achieved through meticulous studio work and multi-track recording technology of the era. Released in 1979, the album became a massive commercial success, winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1981 and establishing the sophisticated adult contemporary pop sound that would define much of the early 1980s.
