Disraeli Gears was recorded at Atlantic Studios in New York and Atco Studios in New York during 1966-1967, marking Cream's second studio album. The album was produced by Felix Pappalardi, who also played bass on several tracks, alongside engineer Tom Dowd, one of the era's most accomplished recording professionals. The sessions showcased innovative studio techniques for the era, including extensive use of effects processing, fuzz boxes, and Leslie speakers to create the psychedelic and heavy rock textures that defined the sound. Pappalardi's production emphasized the band's instrumental virtuosity while integrating the psychedelic sensibilities prevalent in popular music during 1967, resulting in commercially successful singles like "Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room." The album's sophisticated production approach helped establish the template for psychedelic rock and heavy rock production during the late 1960s.
