Green River — Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival

Green River

First released

Green River, the second studio album by Creedence Clearwater Revival, was recorded in 1969 at RCA Studios in Hollywood under the production of John Fogerty and engineer Russ Gary. The album was engineered primarily by Russ Gary with contributions from other RCA studio engineers, and was completed relatively quickly during a period of intense creative output for the band. The recording sessions utilized RCA's professional studio facilities and captured the band's signature swamp rock sound with relatively straightforward recording techniques focused on capturing live instrumental performances. The album was released in August 1969 and became one of CCR's most commercially successful releases, featuring hit singles like "Proud Mary" and "Bad Moon Rising." The production reflected the band's preference for direct, efficient recording methods that prioritized the quality of their songwriting and instrumental performances over elaborate studio experimentation.
