Asylum Records — 60155

Desperado, the Eagles' second album, was recorded in 1973 at The Record Plant in Los Angeles and other studios, building on the commercial success of their debut. The album was produced by Bill Szymczyk, who became known for his work with the band, and featured the band working with engineer John Overall to capture their refined country-rock sound. The recording sessions showcased the band's evolution toward more sophisticated songwriting and arrangements, particularly in the album's concept-driven narrative songs about outlaws and the American West. Szymczyk's production emphasized clarity and instrumental detail, allowing the interplay between the band members' guitars and Don Henley's and Glenn Frey's vocals to stand prominently in the mix. The album was released in April 1974 and became a major commercial success, establishing the Eagles as one of the decade's premier rock bands.
