Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975

First released

Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 by the Eagles was a compilation album released in February 1976 that collected previously released material rather than newly recorded tracks. The songs were originally recorded between 1971 and 1975 at various studios including the Record Plant and other Los Angeles-area facilities, primarily during sessions overseen by producers Bill Szymczyk and Glyn Johns. The album was sequenced and mastered to create a cohesive retrospective of the band's early commercial success, featuring songs recorded during the height of their initial popularity. The compilation became one of the best-selling albums of all time, driven partly by the Eagles' choice to compile their hits during a period when compilation albums were becoming increasingly popular in the market. While the album contained no new recordings, it represented a significant commercial milestone and helped establish the Eagles as one of the dominant rock acts of the 1970s before their later disbandment.
