Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab — UDSACD 2016

That's the Way of the World, Earth, Wind & Fire's fifth studio album released in March 1975, was recorded primarily at Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles under the production leadership of Maurice White and Ken Kessie. The album was engineered by Jeff Bridges and featured the band working with producer-arranger Don Whitehead, who contributed significantly to its polished sound. The recording sessions took advantage of contemporary studio technology and multitrack recording techniques to layer the band's signature brass arrangements, strings, and rhythm section into a cohesive whole. The album marked a commercial and critical breakthrough for the group, establishing their signature blend of funk, soul, and jazz fusion that would define their most successful period. The production emphasized sophisticated orchestration and meticulous overdubbing to achieve the lush, symphonic quality that became characteristic of the mid-1970s Earth, Wind & Fire sound.
