Eric Clapton

First released

Eric Clapton's 1970 self-titled debut album was recorded at Olympic Sound Studios in London during late 1969 and early 1970. The album was produced by Eric Clapton and Tom Dowd, an experienced American engineer and producer known for his work in rock and Atlantic Records. The recording featured Clapton's signature blues-influenced guitar style combined with a band arrangement that included bassist Carl Radle and drummer Jamie Oldaker, musicians who would become his regular collaborators. The sessions took place during a transitional period for Clapton following his departure from Blind Faith, and the album reflected a more intimate, blues-oriented direction compared to his supergroup work. The production emphasized live instrumentation and straightforward recording techniques that captured Clapton's raw guitar playing and soulful vocal delivery.
