Nice 'n' Easy was recorded between December 1959 and March 1960 at Capitol Studios in Hollywood under the direction of producer Nelson Riddle, who arranged and conducted all the orchestral accompaniments. The album was engineered by Capitol's technical staff and marked one of Frank Sinatra's final sessions for the Capitol Records label before his contract ended. Riddle's lush orchestral arrangements, featuring strings and woodwinds, complemented Sinatra's relaxed vocal approach, creating the intimate, sophisticated sound that defined the project. The recording sessions took place during a period of transition in Sinatra's career, as he was preparing to establish his own Reprise Records label. The album's title track became a major hit single, reaching number one on the Billboard charts in 1960.
