Red Clay is a jazz fusion album by trumpeter Freddie Hubbard recorded in 1970 and released in 1971 on the CTI Records label. The album was produced by Creed Taylor, the founder of CTI Records, who was known for his sophisticated approach to jazz recording and production. The sessions were recorded at New York recording studios with arrangements and compositions featuring Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass, and Jack DeJohnette on drums. The album represents an important example of early 1970s jazz fusion, blending Hubbard's hard bop trumpet style with contemporary funk and soul influences.
