All Things Must Pass — George Harrison

George Harrison

All Things Must Pass

First released

All Things Must Pass was recorded primarily between May and September 1970 at Abbey Road Studios and Harrison's home studio at Friar Park in Henley-on-Thames, England. Harrison produced the album himself with engineer Geoff Emerick, who had previously worked on Beatles recordings, employing both analog tape machines and Harrison's personal equipment at Friar Park. The album featured an extensive collection of songs that Harrison had written during and after the Beatles era, with recording sessions that were deliberately intimate and low-pressure compared to the collaborative dynamics of his former band. Harrison utilized layered guitar overdubs and orchestral arrangements, particularly prominent on tracks like "My Sweet Lord," which showcased his distinctive slide guitar work and spiritual musical direction. The double album's release in November 1970 marked a significant commercial and critical success, establishing Harrison as a major solo artist independent of the Beatles.
