All Things Must Pass — George Harrison

George Harrison

All Things Must Pass

First released

All Things Must Pass was recorded primarily at George Harrison's home studio, Friar Park, between May 1973 and September 1974, though some overdubs were completed at other locations including EMI Studios in London. The album was produced by George Harrison himself in collaboration with Phil Spector, who brought his characteristic Wall of Sound production technique to several tracks. Engineer Glyn Johns played a crucial role in the recording process, helping to capture Harrison's vision during a period when he was establishing his independence as a solo artist following the Beatles' dissolution. The recording sessions were notable for their relaxed home studio environment, which contrasted with the pressures of major label studio recording and allowed Harrison creative freedom in arranging and producing his material. The album's production reflected Harrison's growing interest in both Western rock instrumentation and Indian musical elements, representing a significant artistic statement during a transitional period in his career.
