Blunderbuss — Jack White

Jack White

Blunderbuss

First released

Blunderbuss, Jack White's debut solo album, was recorded at Third Man Records' studios in Nashville, Tennessee during 2011. The album was produced by White himself alongside engineer Vance Powell, known for his work on rock and blues recordings. White employed a deliberately lo-fi and raw approach to the production, favoring analog recording techniques and live instrumentation to capture an immediate, energetic sound that contrasted with the polished production of his previous work with The White Stripes. The recording sessions featured a rotating cast of Nashville session musicians rather than a fixed band lineup, allowing White to explore various sonic textures and instrumental arrangements. Released in April 2012, the album marked White's establishment of Third Man Records as a fully operational independent label and studio facility, reflecting his commitment to hands-on creative control over all aspects of production.
