Jack White

Blunderbuss

First released

Blunderbuss, Jack White's debut solo album, was recorded at several locations including Third Man Records in Nashville and other studios between 2011 and 2012. The album was produced primarily by Jack White himself along with engineer Vance Powell, known for his work on rock and blues records. White employed a diverse range of recording techniques and vintage equipment, including analog tape recording and unconventional instruments, reflecting his meticulous approach to sound. The production marked White's first major solo effort following The White Stripes' indefinite hiatus in 2011, showcasing his evolution as a multi-instrumentalist and bandleader. The album was released in April 2012 and demonstrated White's independent creative vision through Third Man Records, his own record label.
