Blunderbuss — Jack White

Jack White

Blunderbuss

First released

Blunderbuss, Jack White's debut solo album, was recorded primarily at Third Man Records' Nashville studio in 2011 and early 2012. White worked with producers Vance Powell and Jack White himself, with Powell serving as the primary engineer and mixer, bringing his expertise in capturing raw, dynamic performances. The recording emphasized live instrumentation and analog recording techniques, with White playing multiple instruments throughout the album and enlisting a rotating cast of musicians including drummer Carsten Dunn, keyboardist Sheldon Gomberg, and bassist James Species. White utilized a blend of vintage and modern equipment, maintaining his signature approach of balancing technical precision with loose, energetic performances characteristic of his previous work with The White Stripes. The album marked White's first official solo release following his departure from The White Stripes in 2011, establishing Third Man Records as his primary creative hub.
