Late for the Sky — Jackson Browne

Jackson Browne

Late for the Sky

First released

Late for the Sky, Jackson Browne's third studio album released in 1974, was recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami and Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles during 1973-1974. The album was produced by Jackson Browne himself alongside engineer Jon Haefner, with mixing by Shelly Yakus. Browne recorded the album during a period of personal transition following the end of his relationship with Joni Mitchell, which influenced the introspective songwriting throughout the project. The production featured a blend of acoustic and electric instrumentation, with notable contributions from session musicians including bassist David Lindley and drummer Russ Kunkel. The album's sophisticated arrangements and Browne's vulnerable vocal delivery marked a creative milestone in his career, establishing him as a premier singer-songwriter of the 1970s.
