Coda

First released

Led Zeppelin's eighth and final studio album "In Through the Out Door" was released in 1979, not an album called "Coda." However, "Coda" (1982) was a compilation album of previously unreleased material recorded between 1968 and 1978 across various sessions and studios. The tracks on Coda were recorded at different times and locations including Electric Lady Studios in New York and various other studios, with the album compiled and produced by Jimmy Page after Led Zeppelin's disbandment following drummer John Bonham's death in September 1980. The album featured songs that had been recorded during different eras of the band but were deemed unsuitable for previous album releases, making it a retrospective collection rather than a cohesive studio project. Page oversaw the mastering and compilation process to create what served as the band's unofficial farewell release.
