Led Zeppelin's eighth studio album, In Through the Out Door, was released in 1979, not Coda. Coda was actually a compilation album of unreleased material and outtakes from various sessions spanning 1968-1978, released in 1982 after the band's 1980 dissolution following John Bonham's death. The album was compiled and produced by the band members themselves along with engineer George Marino, who mastered the final product. The tracks were recorded across multiple sessions at different studios including Electric Lady Studios in New York and the band's own Polar Studios in Sweden, reflecting the disparate nature of the material. Rather than being a cohesive studio production, Coda served as a retrospective of unused performances, including early alternate versions and late-period experimental recordings that showcased the band's creative range during their twelve-year recording career.
