The album was engineered by Rasmussen alongside Mike Stone, utilizing analog recording technology and the studio's renowned facilities to capture the band's heavier, more polished sound compared to their debut. The production process emphasized tight musicianship and precise drum recording, with Lars Ulrich's drums recorded separately to achieve the punchy, defined tone that became characteristic of the album.
