After the Gold Rush — Neil Young

Neil Young

After the Gold Rush

First released

After the Gold Rush was recorded in August 1970 at TheÓja Studio in Topanga Canyon, California and at Neil Young's home studio. The album was produced by Neil Young and David Briggs, with engineer Jack Nitzsche contributing to arrangements and production. Young recorded much of the material with Crazy Horse and other session musicians, utilizing relatively simple and direct recording techniques that emphasized organic instrumentation and vocal performances. The sessions took place during a transitional period in Young's career, following his departure from Buffalo Springfield and establishing his solo artistic identity. The album's stripped-down production approach, featuring acoustic guitars, strings, and straightforward arrangements, became influential in shaping the sound of 1970s rock music.
