Apple Records — PAS 10007

Band on the Run was recorded primarily at EMI Studios in Abbey Road, London, between August and September 1974, with additional sessions at The Mall Studios in the same city. Paul McCartney produced the album himself with engineer Nigel Godrich, while the core Wings lineup of McCartney, Linda McCartney, and Denny Laine handled most instrumental duties, supplemented by session musicians including guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton. The album was notable for its ambitious multi-track layering and McCartney's extensive use of overdubbing to achieve the lush, orchestrated sound across its 16 tracks. The recording took place during a relatively prolific period for Wings, coming two years after the Red Rose Speedway album, and the sessions reflected McCartney's desire to create a more cohesive and artistically substantial work than some of his previous post-Beatles projects.
