Band On The Run — Paul McCartney And Wings

Paul McCartney And Wings

Band On The Run

First released

Band on the Run was recorded primarily at EMI Studios in Lagos, Nigeria and at Abbey Road Studios in London between 1973 and 1974. Paul McCartney produced the album himself with engineer Geoff Emerick, who had previously worked with The Beatles. The Lagos sessions took place under challenging conditions in a makeshift studio setup, which McCartney later reflected created a unique creative pressure that influenced the album's sound. The album featured a diverse range of musical styles and marked a significant artistic statement for Wings, establishing McCartney's confidence as a solo artist and producer following The Beatles' breakup. Band on the Run became one of McCartney's most critically acclaimed works and demonstrated his ability to work outside traditional studio environments while maintaining high production standards.
