Flaming Pie — Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney

Flaming Pie

First released

Flaming Pie was recorded between 1995 and 1997 across multiple studios including Paul McCartney's own facilities at MPL Communications in London, as well as outside locations. McCartney served as the primary producer alongside Jeff Lynne, who co-produced several tracks and brought his distinctive production style to songs like "The Word We Cannot Say." The album was engineered by various technicians including Nigel Godrich and others, with McCartney utilizing both traditional live recording methods and digital technology. Notable creative choices included McCartney's incorporation of orchestral arrangements, the use of his daughter Stella McCartney's artwork for the cover, and the rekindling of his songwriting partnership with producer Ringo Starr on select tracks. Released in May 1997, Flaming Pie marked McCartney's return to a more collaborative recording approach after several self-produced albums and represented a commercially successful project that reached number two on the UK Albums Chart.
