Ten — Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam

Ten

First released

Pearl Jam's debut album "Ten" was recorded primarily at London Bridge Studio in Seattle between 1989 and 1990, with additional sessions at One on One Recording Studios in Los Angeles. Producer Rick Rubin oversaw the project, bringing his minimalist approach and focus on raw performance energy to the recording process, while engineer Brendan O'Brien handled much of the technical work. The band chose to record relatively live in the studio to capture the intensity of their performances, with many tracks featuring first or second takes. The album's production reflected the emerging Seattle grunge sound of the early 1990s, emphasizing heavy guitars and emotionally direct vocals by Eddie Vedder. "Ten" was released in August 1991 and became a massive commercial success, helping to bring grunge and alternative rock into the mainstream.
