A Nice Pair

First released

A Nice Pair was a compilation album released by Pink Floyd in 1974, combining their 1967 debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and their 1968 follow-up A Saucerful of Secrets into a single reissue. The original recordings were produced by Norman Smith at Abbey Road Studios in London, with the two albums recorded during 1966-1968 when the band featured Syd Barrett as primary songwriter and guitarist. A Nice Pair included the original stereo mixes of both albums and introduced these early Pink Floyd works to a new audience during the height of the band's popularity following Dark Side of the Moon. The compilation was primarily a repackaging effort rather than a new recording project, though it featured updated cover artwork and remastering of the source material. This release represented a significant moment in preserving and re-evaluating the band's psychedelic era before their transition to progressive rock dominance.
