A Nice Pair is a compilation album released by Pink Floyd in 1974, combining their debut album Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967) and A Saucerful of Secrets (1968) into a single reissue. The original recordings were made at EMI Studios in London under the production of Norman Smith, a pioneering engineer who later became a successful producer and recording artist himself. Piper at the Gates of Dawn was recorded in early 1967 using four-track and eight-track recording technology typical of that era, while A Saucerful of Secrets followed in 1968 with enhanced studio capabilities. The compilation itself involved minimal new production work, serving primarily as a repackaging of these foundational psychedelic rock recordings for new audiences. The release represented an important archival moment as Pink Floyd's sound had evolved significantly by the mid-1970s, making these early recordings historically significant documents of British psychedelic music.
