Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab — UDSACD 2033

Doolittle was recorded at Multiple studios between 1988 and 1989, primarily at Fort Apache Studios in Boston and Синema Studios in Hollywood. The album was produced by Gil Norton, who became known for his meticulous production approach and close collaboration with the band. The Pixies employed a distinctive recording technique that emphasized dynamic contrast, moving from quiet, introspective verses to explosive, heavily distorted choruses, which became a signature element of the album's sound. Recording took place across several sessions with engineer Paul Q. Kolderie and others, capturing the raw energy and controlled chaos that defined the alternative rock aesthetic of the late 1980s. Doolittle, released in 1990, represented a significant moment in alternative rock history, with its production serving as a blueprint for the grunge and alternative rock movements that would dominate the 1990s.
