Paisley Park — WPCR-13537

Parade was recorded primarily at the Capitol Studios and One on One Recording Studios in Los Angeles between 1985 and 1986, with Prince serving as the principal producer and engineer alongside David Z and Susan Rogers. The album was created during a period of significant creative output for Prince, following the massive success of Purple Rain, and featured a more eclectic and experimental sonic palette compared to its predecessor. Prince played the majority of instruments on the album himself, showcasing his multi-instrumental proficiency, while also incorporating live band performances from The Revolution members. The production employed both analog and early digital recording technology, with Prince's meticulous attention to detail evident in the intricate arrangements and layered instrumentation. Released in March 1986, Parade served as the soundtrack to Prince's film Under the Cherry Moon and reflected his ambition to diversify his artistic output across multiple media.
