Warner Bros. Records — WPCR-13532

Dirty Mind was recorded primarily at Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles during 1979 and early 1980, with additional sessions at other Minneapolis and Los Angeles facilities. Prince played the majority of instruments himself and co-produced the album with engineer Bob Cavallo, marking an early example of his hands-on approach to production. The album was engineered by Cavallo along with Jim Pulte, utilizing analog recording technology typical of the era. Prince's multi-instrumental performance and the album's deliberately provocative lyrical content reflected his artistic independence, though it was released under Warner Bros. Records in October 1980. The sparse, funk-driven production style and explicit subject matter made it controversial but helped establish Prince's distinctive sonic identity and artistic vision.
