News of the World — Queen

Queen

News of the World

First released

News of the World was recorded at the Electric Lady Studios in New York and Wessex Sound Studios in London during 1976 and early 1977. The album was produced by Queen themselves along with engineer Mike Stone, who had previously worked with the band on A Day at the Races. The band employed relatively straightforward recording techniques compared to some of their previous elaborate arrangements, with an emphasis on strong songwriting and direct performances. The album was mixed and mastered at various studios, reflecting the band's practice of utilizing multiple facilities for different stages of production. This album marked a return to a more guitar-driven sound while maintaining Queen's trademark vocal harmonies and studio experimentation, and it became one of their most commercially successful records.
