The Game

First released

The Game was recorded primarily at the Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles during 1979 and early 1980, with additional sessions at Electric Lady Studios in New York. The album was produced by Queen themselves alongside Reinhold Mack, a German producer known for his work with rock bands, marking a significant shift toward a more accessible, radio-friendly sound compared to their previous work. The band experimented with synthesizers and drum machines more prominently than before, particularly on tracks like "Another One Bites the Dust," which featured a heavily electronic approach to rhythm production. The album benefited from state-of-the-art studio technology available at the time, and Queen's collaborative approach allowed each member to contribute significantly to the songwriting and arranging process. Released in June 1980, The Game became one of Queen's most commercially successful albums, coinciding with their growing popularity in mainstream rock and pop markets.
