Lullabies to Paralyze

First released

Lullabies to Paralyze, Queens of the Stone Age's fourth studio album, was recorded primarily at the band's own Rancho de la Luna studio in California between 2004 and 2005, with additional sessions at other locations. The album was produced by the band themselves along with producer Rick Rubin, who brought his minimalist production approach to the project. The recording process was notably protracted, with Josh Homme working through various lineup changes and creative directions before finalizing the album's sound. The production emphasized heavy, riff-driven compositions with enhanced studio layering compared to the band's previous work, utilizing both analog and digital recording techniques. Released in June 2005, the album marked a shift toward more experimental and introspective material within the band's catalog while maintaining their signature heavy rock foundation.
