XL Recordings — XLLP781

OK Computer was recorded primarily at EMI Studios in London and RAK Studios between 1996 and 1997, with producer Nigel Godrich overseeing the project alongside the band. The recording process involved extensive experimentation with unconventional recording techniques, including the use of analog tape machines and creative microphone placement to capture organic and electronic textures. Godrich and the band employed a collaborative approach that allowed for spontaneous overdubbing and layering of instruments, with particular attention paid to vocal production and atmospheric arrangements. The album was mastered to capture dynamic range across both traditional rock instrumentation and electronic elements, reflecting the band's evolving sonic ambitions. Released in June 1997, OK Computer marked a significant departure from the Britpop conventions of the era and established Nigel Godrich's role as a crucial creative force in shaping Radiohead's sound.
