Pablo Honey

First released

Pablo Honey, Radiohead's debut album, was recorded primarily at EMI Studios in London during 1992 with producer Chris Hufford and engineer Nigel Godrich, who would become a longtime collaborator with the band. The recording took place across several sessions and incorporated both live instrumentation and early digital production techniques available at the time. The album's sound reflected the band's transition from their earlier guitar-based material toward more experimental arrangements, though it still maintained a relatively raw production aesthetic compared to their later work. Despite limited resources and the band's relative inexperience in the studio, the recording captured songs that would define their early identity, including "Creep," which became an unexpected international hit after its 1994 release. The production process helped establish the working relationship between the band and Godrich that would prove essential to their subsequent albums.
