Nowhere

First released

Ride recorded their debut album "Nowhere" in 1990 at several studios including RAK Studios in London, with production handled primarily by Richard Stannard. The band worked with engineer Nigel Godrich during parts of the recording process. The album was created during the height of the British shoegaze movement, characterized by the band's use of heavily layered guitars, ethereal vocals, and studio effects that defined the era's sonic aesthetic. The recording sessions emphasized textural experimentation with drum machines, synthesizers, and extensive use of guitar effects pedals to create the album's characteristic wall of sound. "Nowhere" was released in October 1990 and became a defining shoegaze record, establishing Ride's reputation for lush, effects-driven alternative rock production.
