Exposure

First released

Robert Fripp's 1979 album Exposure was recorded at various locations including the Power Station in New York and other studios during 1978-1979. The album was produced by Robert Fripp himself along with producer Jon Hassell, with engineer Peter Hutchins overseeing much of the technical work. Fripp employed innovative production techniques including extensive use of overdubbing, treated guitar sounds, and incorporation of spoken word elements, featuring contributions from poets and vocalists like Adrian Belew and Daryl Hall. The album marked a significant departure from his King Crimson work, showcasing experimental approaches to texture and composition that reflected the post-punk and new wave influences of the late 1970s. Exposure represented Fripp's exploration of solo artistry and electronic processing at a pivotal moment in his career during a hiatus from regular King Crimson activities.
