Sheryl Crow's self-titled debut album was recorded primarily at Capitol Studios and One on One Recording Studios in Los Angeles during 1992-1993. The album was produced by Sheryl Crow along with producer Hugh Padgham, known for his work with Phil Collins and Genesis, who played a significant role in shaping the album's polished rock sound. Engineer Nigel Godrich, later famous for his work with Radiohead, was involved in the mixing and production process. The recording incorporated live instrumentation alongside programmed drums and synthesizers, reflecting early 1990s production trends. Released in September 1993, the album achieved major commercial success and established Crow as a significant artist in the alternative rock and country-rock crossover genre.
