Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab — MFSL 1-173

Bridge Over Troubled Water was recorded between 1969 and 1970 primarily at Columbia Records' studios in New York, with producer Roy Halee overseeing the sessions. The album featured Paul Simon as primary songwriter and producer alongside Halee, who brought extensive experience in studio arrangements and engineering. The title track notably showcased Art Garfunkel's vocal performance layered with orchestral arrangements and piano, becoming one of the duo's most iconic recordings. The production marked a shift toward more lush, layered instrumentation compared to their earlier work, incorporating strings, horns, and multiple vocal harmonies. Released in January 1970, the album became a commercial and critical success, winning multiple Grammy Awards and establishing it as one of the most significant folk-pop albums of the era.
