Copperhead Road — Steve Earle

Steve Earle

Copperhead Road

First released

Copperhead Road was recorded in 1988 at The Soundstage in Nashville, Tennessee, with Steve Earle collaborating with producer Tony Brown. The album featured a more rock-oriented sound compared to Earle's previous work, incorporating electric guitars and a fuller band arrangement. Earle worked with engineer/co-producer the Duane Baron and musician Steuart Smith, who contributed significantly to the electric guitar arrangements. The production marked a deliberate shift away from the more traditional country sound of his earlier albums, reflecting Earle's desire to reach a broader audience. Released in 1986 by MCA Records, the album became one of Earle's most commercially successful works and established him as a crossover artist in both country and rock markets.
