Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab — UDSACD 2075

Couldn't Stand the Weather, the second studio album by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, was recorded at the Power Station in New York City and One on One Recording Studios in Los Angeles during 1984. The album was produced by John Hammond Jr. and engineer Jim Gaines, who captured Vaughan's raw blues-rock sound with minimal overdubbing to preserve the live energy of the band's performances. The recording sessions benefited from Vaughan's increased confidence following the success of his debut album and featured enhanced production values compared to his first record, though maintaining the authentic Texas blues aesthetic. Released in March 1985, the album continued Vaughan's commercial and critical success, reaching platinum status and establishing him as a major force in reviving blues music during the 1980s.
