Remain in Light — Talking Heads

Talking Heads

Remain in Light

First released

Remain in Light was recorded at the Power Station and Record Plant Studios in New York in 1980, during a period when the Talking Heads were incorporating increasingly experimental and funk-influenced sounds into their work. The album was produced by Brian Eno alongside the band, with Eno playing a crucial role in shaping the album's innovative production approach and complex layered arrangements. The recording process involved extensive use of multitrack recording and rhythmic experimentation, featuring prominent use of synthesizers and drum machines alongside traditional instrumentation. Engineer Jason Schreibman assisted with the technical aspects of capturing the band's evolving sonic palette. The album represented a significant artistic evolution for Talking Heads, moving away from the minimalist post-punk style of their earlier work toward a more dance and world music-influenced sound that would prove influential in the development of alternative and electronic music throughout the 1980s.
