El Camino

First released

El Camino, The Black Keys' eighth studio album released in December 2011, was recorded at Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, Tennessee, a facility owned by producer Dan Auerbach. Auerbach produced and engineered the album alongside guitarist/vocalist Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, marking a shift toward self-production compared to previous collaborations. The album featured a more polished and accessible sound than prior releases, incorporating blues, rock, and pop influences while maintaining the duo's signature raw energy. Recording took place across 2011 with the band utilizing analog tape and vintage equipment at the relatively modest Easy Eye Sound facility. The album's commercially successful production approach, emphasizing groove and melody, represented the band's most mainstream-oriented work to date and contributed to significant chart success and radio play.
