Turn Blue, the ninth studio album by The Black Keys, was recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama and produced by the band members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney alongside Danger Mouse (Brian Burton). The album was recorded in 2013 and released in May 2014, marking a shift toward a more psychedelic and atmospheric sound compared to their previous work. The production featured synthesizers and layered textures alongside their signature blues-rock foundation, with Danger Mouse's influence bringing electronic and experimental elements to the recording. The band worked with engineer Shea Seger during the sessions at the historic studio, known for its rich recording legacy. Turn Blue debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming The Black Keys' second consecutive number-one album.
