Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab — MFSL 1-324

Candy-O, the second studio album by The Cars, was recorded in 1978 at The Record Plant in Los Angeles under the production of Roy Thomas Baker, who also produced their debut album. The album was engineered by Mike Stone and marked the band's continued exploration of new wave and power pop sounds with increased studio polish compared to their first release. Baker's production emphasized tight arrangements, prominent synthesizers, and polished vocals, reflecting the production techniques popular in late 1970s rock music. The album was released in June 1979 and became a major commercial success, reaching number 3 on the Billboard 200 and spawning the hit single "Let's Go," showcasing the band's ability to craft radio-friendly new wave rock during the height of that genre's popularity.
